We are a trusted staffing agency providing high-quality catering staff to schools across the Peterborough area. We are currently seeking reliable and experienced School Chefs to join our team for flexible placements in a variety of school settings.

About the Role:

As a School Chef working through our agency, you’ll be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to pupils and staff while adhering to food safety standards and allergy requirements. You’ll work in different schools, so adaptability and professionalism are key.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook fresh meals in line with school menus and healthy eating guidelines.

Safely manage and accommodate food allergies and special dietary needs.

Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment in accordance with food hygiene regulations.

Work independently or with a team, depending on the size of the school and kitchen.

Ensure all health & safety and food hygiene standards are consistently met (including HACCP).

Accurately record allergy information and liaise with school staff to ensure safe meal provision.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a chef or cook, ideally in an educational or large-scale catering environment.

In date Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (minimum).

Solid understanding of allergy awareness and safe food handling procedures.

Ability to adapt quickly to different school kitchens and teams.

Enhanced DBS – or willing to apply (we can assist with your application).

Own transport is essential – schools are spread across Peterborough and may not be accessible via public transport.

Excellent communication skills and a professional, friendly attitude.

Desirable:

Allergy Awareness Certificate (or willingness to complete training).

Knowledge of school meal nutritional standards and government guidelines.

Experience working with children or in school environments.
